Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter known for his pioneering contributions to the abstract expressionist movement in the art world. He was born on January 28, 1912, in Cody, Wyoming, and died on August 11, 1956, in an automobile accident in East Hampton, New York.

Pollock’s life was marked by complexity, creativity, and personal struggles. Pollock grew up in a turbulent household. His father, LeRoy Pollock, was an abusive alcoholic, and this difficult family environment had a lasting impact on Jackson’s life.

Pollock lived in Riverside, California, for a brief period of time. In the early 1930s, he moved to California to live with his brother Charles, who was working as a surveyor in the Riverside area. During his time in Riverside, Pollock worked odd jobs and continued to develop his interest in art. It was during this period that he began to receive formal art training at the Riverside Junior College and the Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles.

While Pollock’s time in Riverside was relatively short, it was a significant part of his early life and artistic development before he eventually moved to New York City, where he would gain fame as an artist.
