Cogitationes: Delightful Delusions
My weekdays are predictable — I spend close to 10 hours at my office, 3 hours at my house, and 6 hours sleeping. If you are wondering what I do with the remaining 5 hours — it is for my commute from my home to office, and back. That is like 5x5 = 25 hours every week (> a day).
It is often the idle hours that lead a man to ruin (The Killer, 2023). So, what do I do with these 5 hours every day while I am sitting in a packed bus headed towards my office? Well, I listen to music while getting lost in a train of thoughts — like some of the ones below.
If I stop thinking, would I exist?
“Pray for good riddance” — only for our mind to prey on us, anyway.
Let I be known to me, and unbeknownst to many — because this concept of happiness saddens me.
Meaningful existence is living, while existence without meaning is survival.
We’ll never be satisfied because we’ll never know what is it that we really want in life — thanks to our greed, and ambitions!
Each one of these have their own underlying meaning.
First one → more of a counter to Rene Descartes’ Cogito Ergo Sum
Second one → how our mind haunts us with either the memories or constant worry of whether something/someone we get rid of might reappear. It is not just with things we get rid of, but also those of which we lose.
Third → why I keep most of the things with myself, and not share much with others.
Fourth → while I was having a tussle with myself as to whether existence and living is the same, after starting to read a few books on Existentialism. Finally, I calmed myself after making this distinction
Fifth → pretty self explanatory!
