Take Wordpress, not Wix.

We have so many clients coming up to us and wanting to build a website. They have so much demands and projects in mind but are always saying the same thing : I have been robbed by my previous developer, I don’t understand anything with Wordpress and Wix is easy.

Well, Wix is NOT a good solution for a website. But why ?

Both are Free, but are they ?

Wix claims to be free. It’s partially true. Wix lets you create a website in a few minutes with a drag and drop solution. However, being free… has a price.

The free version of Wix is limiting your storage space, your domain name, your bandwidth, your themes and globally : having a website.

Wordpress, however, comes free out of the box and whatever the usage you want to do with it. Period.

Yeah but I need a host.

While Wix doesn’t require a host (because it is included in their premium plans), you are still limited with how you configure your host solution.

For example, the maximum plan on Wix is at $25/month. With this, you have 20Gb of storage and unlimited bandwidth.

But if you were going for a Wordpress, you would need a host/server. Ok, so Wordpress is completely free, so you’ll have to pay the host.

If you were to go to 1and1.com for example, you would have to pay $0.99/month for a year and then $7.99/month. You are still cheaper than what Wix offers you.

And more : you get 100Gb of Storage, unlimited Bandwidth, a free domain name, 25 databases (for more than one website!) and a SSL certificate for your shop to be secure in the eyes of your customers.

Ok but Wix is easy to manage where Wordpress is not.

Visual Composer is a very easy Drag and Drop solution for Wordpress

That’s debatable. Because where you will be all about that “Drag and drop” thing with Wix, you’ll be so limited with the features available that you will be frustrated very fast.

For instance, you will not be able to make a Hotel reservation website or a Real Estate agency with Wix.

You won’t be able to have a proper eCommerce website either because you will not have that slick render the customers want either.

The drag and drop feature is available on Wordpress too with different plugins like Visual Composer or Divi.

Your design is your identity.

That’s a tough one, once again, for Wix.

Wix offers around 470 templates in their offer. Some are free, some require a premium plan.

Wordpress has a strong community with thousands of themes. Themeforest, one of the leaders in the marker, has nothing less than 10,000 templates for Wordpress alone !

For around $40 you can find the visual you need to appear professional.

Extensions are key components.

True. And Wix, once again is pretty far behind with this notion. Wix allows you to basically show who you are and does it just well.

When it comes to go further and offer options to your customers, that’s a totally different problem.

Nowadays, you need a strong SEO, call to action buttons, to grab the email address of your visitors and much more !

All these are basically plugins, and Wordpress has thousands.

Some are free, other are not, and some are expensive. It’s true. But in general, Wordpress is well tailored for any occasion.

Conclusion

Think about it like this : Wix will do the job to be online, Wordpress will take care about everything else.

Yes but I need a developer !” : Don’t look further, we’ll take care of everything :)
