Thank you so much for writing this.

Laurie Penny was the woman who first inspired me to start writing about feminism and politics. Before I stumbled across her, the only women I saw forging successful writing careers online were writing about fashion and beauty — which just didn’t resonate with me.

I’ve been a fan of her writing for a long time. Not just her ideas, but like her actual prose. I think she writes very well.

However, when I read her Milo post I ended it feeling so uneasy. It started with her — as you rightly calling it — infantalizing of these ‘Lost Boys’. The whole article just left me so disappointed.

So thank you for writing this, and putting into words what I was struggling to work out. I’m definitely going to view Penny’s work with a more critical eye in future. It’s hard, because she was one of my first writing inspirations. But I don’t want to support such a breed of white feminism.
