One of the hardest thing to learn for me was to learn how to let go of projects. When do you decide to pull the plug on that project or startup or whatever-you-are-working-on and move on to something else?
The risk of abandoning something prematurely is real. The fear of letting go of all that hard work that you put in is real.
My formula is simple. When you wake up in the morning and you don’t feel like going to work. When the fire inside you that pushed you to do what you were doing is gone. When the work that you are doing does not fulfill you anymore — it’s time to move on.
As long as what are you doing makes you happy and you are having fun doing it, you are on the right path.
Don’t waste your life doing something that you hate — truly hate — doing but won’t stop as it’s somewhat successful and you feel obligated to continue. Life is too short to spend doing something you don’t enjoy.
Listen to your gut. It will tell you when persisting on a wrong path is not worth it. It’s amazingly acurate.
