I willingly decided to not ever start drinking after my father made a bet with my brother and I to not drink or try drugs until 18 (yes, even with the legal drinking age of 21). He just wanted us to have a smooth High School experience and get to an age where we could think more rationally; it was a bet he got from an old boss that had two very successful children. #3 hit home harder than I would like to admit… The list of things people have said to me when I tell them I’ve never drank is ridiculous. People are apprehensive to be friends or want a relationship with someone that doesn’t drink, it’s something that I’ve never been able to wrap my head around.
