thinkering

There is something about digital aesthetics in real space and on real objects that attracts me. Perhaps it is the youthfulness of this design stream, at least when compared to other genres of design that I am more familiar with, that still necessitates the creators of these technologically derived objects to really think outside the box. And isn’t that a sign of revolution in design when new tools of techniques open up unseen opportunities to better (I want to revisit this word) the existing artefacts and experiences? As I am learning in my history curriculum at school, it happened before during the Roman era, it happened with the Industrial Revolution last century, I am convinced it could be going on as we speak.

Robert Gordon, Erik Brynjolfsson debate the future of work at TED2013

let’s talk values.

TED video

At TED2013, a fun-to-watch debate on innovation concludes with a clear impression from the audience that our history and future has been and will be a progress in acceleration. Having expressed his points of view on the future of technological advancement, Robert Gordon (pictured left) who also gave another convincing TED talk on the death of our progress ended his argument with a subversive note “what is the value of all this knowledge?”

… just another unfinished thought (that was originally written over a year ago!)
