‘Star Trek Beyond’ Rescues the Franchise From the Brink

I saw this last night. I agree that this was much better because it was true to the spirit of the original series and because of how the script handles Kirk and Spock. (I’ve not seen Into Darkness so no comparison there) I like my gadgetry and my action scenes to be realistic, which is virtually impossible for these mega-budget movies made for mass audiences. The script also avoids the annoying self-righteousness of Next Generation and the movies with that cast.

Bonus points for the passing reference to the original series — “captured by a giant green space hand”
