Isn’t the only thing that matters in future conflict the active protection system?

There’s a world of difference between neutralizing an RPG round (explosive warhead, muzzle velocity 115 mps) and deflecting a tank main gun round (depleted uranium, muzzle velocity 1750 mps, from the M1A2). Israeli AFVs equipped with Trophy have not fought tanks. There are no reports of Russian built tanks equipped with Arena coming under fire by rebel tanks in Syria. Intercepting a super high velocity projectile with a comparatively slow moving defensive projectile will be huge challenge, to put it mildly.
