Technologically Sophisticated, Morally Bankrupt

‘Moral courage’, interesting. I don’t think we, as a global society, lacks courage. I think what we need is humbleness and the restoration of respect to natue. In other words, what we lack is morality — Morality towards nature, other living or non-living things, all resources, and the universe. It is partially due to the inflated human ego when the western industrial revolution has created steel, machines, steamboats, and such. Therefore all of a sudden the western culture believed that they were superior and could conquer it all in this world, including the environment, through colonies and forced industrial methods. Similarly human egos of the communist in the east, take China’s Mao for an example, determined that thousands of years of distinctive Chinese morality/value system was worthless and that the communist were to conquer it all in this world, including the environment. Well, it turns out both the western and the eastern ego-maniacs couldn’t be more wrong. They were not only extremely disrespectful and short-sighted, but also created a massive vacuum in the morality and value system of societies. What to do next should be interesting to watch. Are we, as a global society, going to save us from this morality blackhole, or are we going to create a bigger hole to ruin the entire world…? After all, there is only Africa and the South America left. I wish we could go back in time and rewrite the history.
