he finally
quit smoking
ashes in an ern

it’s more fun driving
since I changed my car horn to
the sound of gunshots

fingers popping out
haiku writing mania
counting syllables

basho jumps
into the old pond —
terrified frogs

looking down on those
blackeyed susans running wild —
dainty queen ann’s lace

thirsty mosquito
lands on a cold stone Buddha
the end of craving

smoking my crack pipe
also known as a smartphone
where did my life go?

time is on our side
sang the youthful Rolling Stones
wrinkled prunes on tour

a mourning dove mourns
so early in the morning
where’s my bb gun?

stink bug says to skunk
our only protection is
our imperfection
