Coyote Review — A Surreal 2D Animation

Coyote is an animated short story from director Lorenz Wunderle and producer Ramon Schoch which tells the tale of a coyote that loses his family.

At least, I think that’s what it does. Have you seen that episode of The Simpsons when Homer eats a ton of really spicy chilli’s and begins hallucinating? Coyote is kind of that, only on steroids.

Coyote is a surreal trip, I mean, watching it feels likes you’ve just taken a whole bunch of LSD and now you’re at the window watching some animals have at it in a gruesome fight and your mind begins wondering what that coyote would be like if it was human.

The animation is crisp and smooth with a style not that dissimilar to the aforementioned Simpsons though with a lot more little details thrown in.

Coyote can be seen at the LA Film Festival in September 2018 and you really need to see it to make your own mind up.
