Orson Welles: The Man, the Legend

Orson Welles is a writer, actor, producer, and prankster. Welles was the first prankster to use mass communication to effectively dupe an entire group of listeners with the radio with his performance in War of the Worlds. Not only did he contribute War of the Worlds, a radio performance that convinced audiences around the world that the world was attack under alien invasion, but he also directed one of the most critically acclaimed movies in the world Citizen Kane. Orson Welles provided mass audiences with a view at art and showed that it is possible to create meaningful messages and share it with the entire world. Citizen Kane was a very interesting movie because it did not follow the basic story plot of a movie. It was neither a romantic film nor an action thriller. It followed the life, or rather death, of a man and his entire career. I loved this movie and the beautiful tragedy it showed. I think the fact that this movie is the best of all time, according to the majority of critic lists, shows that it is possible to expose the masses to a deep and honest piece of film. I loved that the movie showed the decline of a man once dancing with women and being praised by the men who worked for him to a sad lonely man driven mad by his own lust for success. The movie is an important part of film history and American culture.
