ROGUE ONE & A NEW HOPE — THE RNC VS. DNC
Now that both the Democratic & Republican National Conventions have concluded, lets have some fun & compare the two in Star Wars terms….
1 — Trump is Emperor Palpatine in the making:
Have you heard of any presidential candidate be so divisive, narcissistic & selfish in his/her acceptance speech??? “I will do this”, “I will do that”, “I ALONE will fix everything”….what happened to we??? Us??? Together??? A lot of people have compared Trump’s speech to Hitler, Mussolini & other dictators who had visions of world domination. In the world of Star Wars, this was also Emperor Palpatine who sought to rule the galaxy with an iron fist & at any cost.
2 — The DNC promoted unity & greatness:
Remember the scene in A New Hope when R2-D2 played the video distress call by Princess Leia for Luke & Obi Wan Kenobi??? The DNC’s response was similar to this. Positioning their themes of unity, inclusion and America’s already GREAT stature in the world as an answer to the impending “doom” that Emperor Trump would bring if he takes the oval office. From the elegant & powerful words of First Lady Michelle Obama to Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton, it reminds me of the New Resistance coming together to battle the evil empire.
3 — The RNC = AOTC:
Did you notice how everyone at the RNC looked the same (all white) & sounded the same??? Let’s Make America White, uh Great Again, let’s not acknowledge the black men who got shot by the police, let’s tear down Obama, let’s make the rich richer, etc. And to make it even more divisive, let’s add a taste of racism & seclusion into the mix. Overall, the RNC was very reminiscent of Episode 2 — Attack Of The Clones where the empire secretly were building a clone army. Each clone looked the same, talked the same, said the same. Just like Trump and his minions.
3 — Tim Kaine is Admiral Ackbar, Mike Pence is Admiral Ozzel:
Have you met two VP candidates who were so polar opposites??? Kaine solidified Hillary’s reason why she chose him as a running mate & gave a compelling story on his readiness to lead, unlike Pence who appears to be a sacrificial lamb at any time. He adds no real “pizzazz” to the RNC ticket & only reiterates the coded themes that the Emperor has laid out for the new empire aka The GOP. Kaine has the command presence of Admiral Ackbar from Return Of The Jedi while Pence reminds me of Admiral Ozzle from Empire Strikes Back, an idiot commander in chief who got The Force squeezed out of him by Vader & replaced by Admiral Piett. I’m quite sure Emperor Trump has another VP choice ready once Pence doesn’t live up to par….
4 — The DNC had star power, the RNC had who???
President Obama. President Clinton. Michelle Obama. Joe Biden. Tim Kaine. Mike Duggan. Kasim Reed. Michael Bloomberg. Cory Booker….the list was endless with recognizable names that America knows within the political arena. They all showed their level of star power & gave America a very good reason why to ride with Hillary.
President Bush. Mitt Romney. John Kasich. Marco Rubio. Sarah Palin. John McCain. Where were they??? You know something must be foul when even the Governor of the state that hosted the convention is a no show. And Ted Cruz making his appearance to not endorse Trump also is telling. However, if you feel Chris Christie, Paul Ryan & Ben Carson are political rock stars then more power to you. I think most of the country would give them all a great big yawn & turn the TV. And it seems like those who endorsed Trump at the convention must have been given a seat at the Emperor’s table, since they were hating the man during the primaries. This tells me that they can be whacked at anytime, which is quite reminiscent of Palpatine sending all the senators to Planet Mustafar for Anakin to wipe them out. Very Revenge Of The Sith style.
Overall, I’d say that the next four months will be quite the political battle. Hillary still has to show her trustworthiness, Trump still has to show he’s just worthy, and knowledgeable for that matter. He can’t run the country like a business, no matter how many people he’s waved his sith like powers over & convinced. So what kind of galaxy will we have for the next four years??? One plummeted into darkness like Revenge Of The Sith by the Rogue One, or continue the course of A New Hope??? TBD….
