THE H2O SCANDAL — A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
Food for thought regarding the water crisis in Flint, MI….what if Michigan Governor Rick Snyder were black??? Would he have been forced out of office for hiding what he knew??? Would he have resigned on his own because of his moral conscience??? Would the state government “protect” him from being removed at all???
In the world of “Political Cinema”, it appears that white politicians, regardless of how agregious their acts are, have an escape route, a plan, whatever you call it, to wash their hands away of them. This specific crisis is a prime example. During his State Of The State speech, Gov. Snyder apologized for the lack of attention & immediate action he did not give to the City Of Flint, then turned around and asked the federal government to pay for the bleep up he ignored on his watch. Where are the depositions??? Where are the investigations??? Why hasn’t Snyder been called to Washington to explain his inexcusable inactions???
To take it a step further, since this is an election year for the presidency, not one GOP candidate has been to Flint or asked about the crisis during any of their debates. Not one. Yet, they all want to bash Obama & tote that coded motto of “Let’s Make America Great Again”. And you wonder why most black folk vote Democratic.
Let’s tell it like it is. If the Flint water crisis happened in a city like Beverly Hills, Grosse Pointe, or any other city of affluence, and if Snyder were black, he’d be hung or shot by firing squad period. But since Flint is primarily black & not that affluent, Snyder is acting untouchable & can simply get away with a pathetic “I’m sorry black people, better late than never but I’ll make it right” apology. So what should my rose colored glasses tell me when I look through them again???
