Kindergarten teachers are the baddest ass warriors in the education world. They take children who (mostly) are just out of diapers and teach them the basic building blocks of civilization, preparing them for twelve years of indoctrination into their culture, helping them to develop a healthy curiosity, teaching them interpersonal skills that build friendships, and the internal regulation to handle things like boredom and frustration that are given to all of us to bear.

And despite the efforts of one of those bad ass warriors, Donald Trump failed kindergarten.

He never learned to share, or take turns. He cut in front of every line as though it was his due. He acts as though the entire world belongs to him, and the rights of others are merely a technicality to find a way around.

He has no ability to empathize with, or even notice, the feelings of others unless those feelings involve feelings about him. When he is reminded of his obligation to do so, he does so by rote, reluctantly, and then openly complains about the burden of doing so.

He has no curiosity with the exception of sadistic curiosity. He doesn’t read, or adventure, or ask about other peoples’ interior lives. He doesn’t understand that other people *have* interior lives.

He is vain, petty, and vindictive, exactly like a small child unable to understand any sort of long term goal and reacting to the tiniest of insults as though its life threatening.

He gets a sadistic glee out of hurting and bullying, just like a child who has been left feral to develop a moral code and desperately craves attention — any attention — at any cost.

He is obsessed with his popularity. He doesn’t care about the quality of his relationships, only their quantity, and has no understanding that every relationship in his life is either forced by power or is quid pro quo, with no real affection, with the possible exception of some of his family members.

Someone failed him. Multiple someones failed him. And none of that matters any more. A man who is emotionally a five year old who flunked kindergarten and has the nuclear codes is a threat that America can’t tolerate.

Call and tell your representatives to impeach. Call and tell administration officials to invoke the 25th Amendment. It’s time for @realDonaldTrump to stop disrupting the class and be put in time out.

And a shout out, again, to the Kindergarten teachers out there. You are our first line of defense against monsters. Thank you for what you do.
