…and I’m calling bullshit on your bathroom law excuses!
I think you are scared. I think you are scared of admitting that you are capable of looking beyond your bubble of experience and moral structure, and admitting that we really are all different, and it’s okay. It doesn’t mean you have to be different.
It’s human nature to be afraid of the unknown and fight change. Really though, transgender people, or anyone in the in the LGBT community isn’t unknown or something new.
A quick study of history will show you that.
What is new, is the willingness of more people to exhibit compassion, empathy and understanding, of ideas and lifestyles outside of their own comfort zones.
It hasn’t come easy. Those odd ones, the outcast, the ones that don’t fit perfectly into the pretentious definition provided by various practicing Christians, they have had to fight long and hard to receive even a speck equality.
Speaking of Christians. They are fighting for the hate-filled bathroom laws, harder than anyone.
Well most of them. I have some pretty awesome Christian friends who practice love, compassion and understanding for everyone. I commend them for standing up and taking the unpopular side too.
The thing is, there are many trans individuals who love your God just as much as you do. There‘s also the other 68.5% of the worlds population that do not believe in your religion. They shouldn’t have their daily lives dictated by laws created to discriminate based on biased truths you have formed from personal religious choices.
Your choice in faith should NEVER come at the cost of taking away equal rights from another human being.
As for those masking their bigoted attitudes towards the LGBT community shouting,
“but we are giving the pedophiles free reign to attack our women and children,”
Here are a few facts for you.
Now, I want to leave you with this because I can’t fathom for a second how a parent could want to force another parent to make this decision. This COULD be your child one day. You never know which path your child might take.
