ODIN aims to improve the world through a network of open source cooperatively built mobile applications with a focus on privacy and decentralization.

Community Migration to ODIN

The Obsidian (ODN) community migrated to the ODIN community over a year ago. Some of us see the ‘i’ in ODIN standing for Innovation. There was no ‘coin swap’, instead, every legitimate community member freely received ODIN coins which were fairly distributed to over one thousand community members via an airdrop.

Community Governance

As a community that had survived the ups and downs of the crypto sphere for several years, we had shed many bad actors who had only malicious intents. We wanted to build and innovate with a range of new technologies, and that is what we continue to do, to this day! In fact, we have already rolled out several working products.

ODIN saw an huge uptake in community members getting involved in design, development, and support for ODIN.

It was exciting [for us] to see this in action, as a core goal of Obsidian was to enable community participation across all areas, and our community saw a lot of parallels with ODIN’s ethos, increasingly expansive roadmap, and delivered techologies. (ObsidianPlatform.com)

Obsidian Platform, Community-led

All assets previously under the control of Obsidian Platform Limited were donated to the ODIN Society several weeks ago. This included a locked 34.7M Obsidian (ODN) foundation wallet. These assets have been donated to ODIN Society in order to be governed by a community-led group of KYC and AML-checked ODIN Society Custodians, for the benefit of the legacy Obsidian community.

ODIN Society Co-operative

ODIN Society has a growing international team of people working on the ODIN Blockchain, and related technologies, services, and community ventures on a daily basis. ODIN Society brings people working on ODIN technology, design, and marketing into a more defined organizational structure.

ODIN Society is a non-profit co-operative organization with a growing number of OS members who come directly from the community. Technically speaking in more legal terms, we are incorporating under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.

What is to be done with remaining Obsidian Platform foundation ODN Coins?

Having been tasked with the decision of what to do with these funds, the answer was clear, ODIN Society has decided to take the funds and offer them back to the Obsidian and ODIN communities as a gesture of goodwill.

In one month from now:

  1. All remaining Obsidian (ODN) coins from the foundation wallet that have not been traded for ODIN (ODIN) coins will be rendered unusable through a coin burn.
  2. All remaining ODIN (ODIN) coins that have been traded for Obsidian (ODN) coins from the foundation wallet on Altilly will be rendered unusable through a coin burn.

The net result of the above will be a reduced supply on both chains.

Where are these remaining foundation funds being made available and at what cost?

ODIN Society has collaborated with a trusted exchange medium, Altilly. This decision was based on the fact that Altilly currently supports both ODIN and Obsidian and the respective pairings of ODIN/BTC and ODN/BTC.

In our collaborative efforts, ODIN Society has Altilly have offered the community a limited trading run of ODIN to Obsidian, for one month.

The rate at which ODIN will be exchanged for ODN is 1 ODIN to 3 ODN. This means that for every ODIN offered in trade will net you 3 ODN. For example, 1,000.00 ODIN to 3,000.00 ODN and so on.

At the time of writing, there are approximately 34,5M ODN available at a fixed rate through Altilly. This limited run will act as a first come first served and will remain in effect for a period of one month.

The trading pair can be found here.

In the event that there are any remaining ODN at the conclusion of this limited trading run, what will be done with them?

Any and all remaining Obsidian (ODN) Coin remaining at the end of this training run will be burned. Proof of burn will be made public.

What will ODIN Society do with any ODIN Coin that is received during this limited trading run?

Any and all ODIN received during this limited trading run will be burned. Proof of burn will be made public.
