Data Updates

As of Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019, 9:50am PST — [Time of writing.]

Masternodes Online → 508
Current Block Height → 563105
Next Superblock → 604800
Total Budget → 108,000 Ø (ODIN Coin)
Allocated → 108,000 Ø (100%)

100% of October’s Superblock fund has been allocated. This does not mean you cannot put forth a proposal. Quite the contrary in fact, as the budget is allocated; this creates competition amongst projects vying for the ODIN in exchange for their development.

If your idea is found to be more appealing than current developmental proposals and in turn receives more votes than existing proposals you can supersede theirs, resulting in your project being funded in place of theirs.

Overall, this is great for the ODIN ecosphere as more and more developmental efforts are being put forth, causing a naturally competitive environment that you, the participant in the space, will benefit from.

ODIN Core Wallet Release Update

Standing ODIN Chairperson and Lead Technical Advisor, Pixxl | Vaughn

As we near Midgard, the next phase of ODIN Blockchain’s current reward cycle, we’ve been working on a large quality of life update for our core blockchain wallet. This wallet update includes work done by the amazing teams at PIVX and Phore as well as a full interface refresh with an official dark theme. There are also new ways to manage your Masternode armada and the Monthly proposals.

With v1.6 you’ll be able to add new Masternodes and edit existing Masternodes through the wallet itself (no more text file updating!). We’ve also added a nifty feature to make setting up a new Masternode even easier when using our Masternode hosting service: MASH. The update also allows the ability to create a Proposal and submit it through the wallet as well, and vote on current proposals.

This update will be considered a MANDATORY RELEASE. This means ODIN Blockchain will be forking to accept new consensus rules. You will need to update your wallets before the date which will be announced concurrently with the official release. There will be at a minimum, a one month grace period before the fork. Everyone running the latest release will be fine.

If you are interested in getting a first-hand view of the new wallet, we have recently restarted our Testnet and released official v1.6.0-next Testnet builds. You can download the new wallet TODAY and begin checking out the new features. It has been specially configured to not run on mainnet. There are some FAQs as well if you have questions about the Testnet.

Every week, thanks to ODIN’s Superblock funding, ODIN Society member, Christopher Reeder aka Nondescript writes and or edits articles informing both current and prospective community members about ODIN tech and general ongoings. Here is an article previously highlighting the benefits of an establishing worker’s cooperative and how ODIN Society plans on developing and maintaining future development.

ODIN Society Laying the Foundation for the Next Generation of Developers

Here is an excerpt from that article:

The Benefits of a Workers Cooperative

ODIN Society, a bonafide workers cooperative allows for the easy integration and on-boarding of human assets. We have created a network of individuals committed to the development of ODIN Blockchain and ODIN’s community network. The most tangible example of this was the formation of the ODIN Society. A group of nine individuals with a diverse background and unique experience from all over the world set on improving the everyday lives of the average person with Blockchain-based technology and solutions and through ongoing philanthropic endeavors.

Benefits of working with ODIN’s co-op — or any co-op for that matter.

Governance
When implementing a community-driven governance model, the strength of the community has until this point been reliant on the altruistic values of those same members governing the community. ODIN Blockchain and similar trustless systems have eliminated this reliance. ODIN Society currently has nine vote holding members, each of which carries equal voting power.

Ownership is Decentralized
As mentioned above in ‘definitions,’ “workers own the business, and they participate in its financial success based on their labor contribution to the cooperative.” This distribution allows for built-in incentivization of the co-op members to do their part in advancing the project.
