ODIN Pledges 500,000.00 ODIN Coin to the United Nations 17 Developmental Goals

The United Nations have collaborated with thousands of researchers worldwide in order to define 17 sustainable development goals to hit by 2030. ODIN Society is working to help contribute to these goals in any way we can. This includes the 500K ODIN reserve we are locking up as a fund to support SDGs in 2020.

Late last week ODIN Society voted in favor of pledging 500,000.00 ODIN Coin to the advancement of the United Nations 17 Developmental Goals, which I’ll include a link to below. There seemed to be a slight confusion amongst the community members as to how this initiative would unfold. I want to clarify some of the details here.

First, as a nonprofit organization with genuine philanthropic leanings and goals, we felt the decision was in line with our core values. We do not wish to be grandiose in our speech, but rather bold in our actions. The advancements of these causes will showcase this.

Second, we are not sending the United Nations 500,000.00 ODIN Coin for them to with as they wish. They do not have the infrastructure and ability to liquidate the holdings into fiat currencies. Instead, we are using the pledge to advance the goals on their behalf with the input of our community. For example, Goal 2 is Zero Hunger. The community may decide to advance this goal. In which case, we would adequately vet organizations, make informed decisions, and use the pledged ODIN in the advancement of that goal.

As promised, here is a link to the United Nations 17 Developmental Goals.

SegWit Successful TestNet Implementation

“SegWit (short for Segregated Witness) is a protocol upgrade that changes the way data is stored. It was activated on litecoin on May 10, 2017, and on bitcoin on 23 August, 2017.” (CoinDesk)

If you’re unfamiliar with the SegWit protocol, let me suggest a very informative Q&A by, Andreas M. Antonopoulos, that breaks it down into an easy to understand concept. You can watch that here.

Benefits of SegWit

  • SegWit Fixes Transaction Malleability
  • Capacity Increases
  • Preemptive Measure Against Scaling Issues
