How to Clean Electric Waffle Maker

There is no doubt that we indeed love our waffle, but we also need to make sure that the waffle maker is always clean after use. Although, the process of cleaning the waffle maker can be daunting, if one was not guided. Mind you, it’s important to always check the user manual on how best to clean the waffle maker; as the manufacturer must have included some useful information in the manual. In case, you don’t have access to one, let me quickly guide you through the right process to clean a waffle maker.

1. Never attempting cleaning, the electrical waffle maker whenever in use,

2. Make sure the electrical waffle maker is completely cool before attempting to clean it.

3. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior.

4. Remove any small puddles of oil with a dry paper towel.

5. Brush away any crumbs with a soft-bristled kitchen brush or old toothbrush.

6. Remove any batter stuck to the iron with a rubber spatula.

7. To prevent staining and long-term oil build up, wipe down the baking plates with a damp cloth or paper towel.

8. To remove really-stuck-on batter, douse the baked-on batter with cooking oil. Wait 5 minutes for the batter to soften. Dab the batter off with a paper towel or cloth.

9. Make sure the waffle iron is completely dry before storing.

Tips for Waffle Maker Maintenance

With a few maintenance tips, you are sure of enjoying this appliance for a longer period of time. Once these tips are strictly adhered to, you can be sure of a clean waffle iron that will work perfectly, and will always look as good as new.

· Always follow the instruction manual that comes with your waffle maker. There are tips on how to maintain this appliance for better performance and appearance. Also, you can visit the manufacturer’s website to see the cleaning tips meant for your specific product.

· Avoid dipping an electric waffle maker into water. This is very risky because it could lead to electric shock when plugged subsequently.

· When using a nonstick waffle maker, apply just a light amount of cooking oil before it is used for the day (you don’t need to apply the cooking oil before each waffle is prepared). It is best to use cooking oil either via a pastry brush or in a refillable spray bottle. Avoid using aerosol cooking spray because it can leave messy residue on the surface.

· Avoid using metal tools or sharp object to remove the baked waffles or to get rid of hardened batter. This is not ideal in any way, as it may temper with the surface by scratching it, which may lead to further complications.

If your waffle start getting stuck to the surface, make sure you apply a reasonable amount of oil to grease it. Another important thing to know is that butter helps to reduce sticking.
