For the last two weeks in April, I have been promoting Loom. It is a company that allows people to video record their screen and send instantly. It is very relevant to the current circumstances today as we are all working remotely.

The Purpose

The true purpose of the last couple of weeks was to begin selling and interacting with people that could find value with the product. This week was just for the purpose of Cold Emails.

A tech tool that I learned this week

Hunter.io campaign creation

A simple overview of what I did this week

  • Find people that would like the product on sample sheets that I downloaded from k12
  • Prospect those people on the sheet and finding information about them that would be great for emails
  • Create a custom domain
  • Begin emailing people on the list
  • Look on Linkedin for more contacts that would be interested in the product

Top things I learned about cold emails

Before I start with the email, I learned that prospecting is very important because it adds to the engagement to the prospect.

Make the subject line as generic as possible. The more generic, the more likely someone would click on the email. Also, the first line of the email must be a compliment or something that is personal to the reader.

I also learned that the body of the text can’t include the sale because it is more of an introductory email to the prospect seeing if the company is the right fit for the product.

Also, make the email as personal as possible, that is where doing your research and prospecting the customer comes in handy.

To keep the interaction innovative and memorable for the prospect, make a video, or have some type of visual picture that would engage the prospect.

This is a personal video that I made for a customer that would take interest in the product. What is cool, is that I am using the product I am advertising.

Some of the things that must be included in the video

Call to Action ( the easier, the better)
Personalization
What the Product is
How to use the Product
And how it can be used to help your company

Accomplishments

This was more of a test to see if I could write cold emails well, and how I have been able to promote a company that I am interested in. But, I have learned more about cold emails than I have in any other week. These are some of the emails that I sent out to some potential prospects.

Big Takeaways

  • The most important lesson learned was that it takes a lot of engagement to try and get someone to take an interest in a product.
  • It is more about quality instead of quantity, sending out personal cold emails will get better traffic than bulks of emails
  • Prospecting is important because it makes the cold email more engaging
  • Always follow up
  • Do not expect to get results immediately, it is more of a waiting game.
