Today it won’t be much about me and my feelings, but rather about your imagination and crativity. An early Christmas gift from me.

A 3D star beaded with peyote stitch, many of you like it a lot. Why not to?! It’s a nice surface to play with ornaments, you can make 5 rays (the most common number) to make them look flatter and display your ornament better, or more so they’ll appear more bent and will be closer to each other – planty of space to use your imagination.

Here I’d like to offer you two patterns, you can draw on. Both patterns are to make 8cm 3D Star if you bead with TOHO Treasures 11/0.

Simple version.

It’s a pattern for repetitive ornament, which will appear in mirror image on both sides of each ray on your star.

Drow your ornament on a blank pattern. Keep it simetrical on both sides from central connecting beads (marked in red).

To bead this 3D Star first pick 4 beads of your choice according to row 1 of your ornament and close them into a circle.

Then add 2 beads of your choice according to the top bead of row 2 on your ornament, then pass through the next bead from previous row, add 2 beads according to your ornament and pass through the bead from previous row next to the last used. Repeat one more time. To finish the row, pass through the very first bead added in this row.

Then add 2 beads of your choice according to the top bead of row 3 on your ornament, pass through the next bead from previous row, pick 1 bead of your choice according to the secon bead of the 3rd row on your ornament, skip 1 bead from the first row, and pass through 1 bead of the second pair you’ve added in previous row. Now add 2 beads according to your ornament and pass through the bead from previous row next to the last used. Once you get to the next triangle, add beads in reverse order from bottom to top according to your ornament. Repeat one more time till you have 3rd row added on all 4 triangles. To finish the row, pass through the very first bead added in this row.

Continue beading in the same manner adding beads in each row according to your ornament until you have finished all rows except for the connecting one. You have finished your first element.

Make 4 more elements like this. Once you’ve finished the last one, fix your thread, but don’t cut your thread, instead use it to connect all 5 elements on one side, and then on the other side. For that pass through the bead next to the one your thread exits, then bead with peyote stitch to add all connecting beads on just this one side, then take the next ellement and pass down in peyote stitch stile through the beads from connecting ro and the last row on the element you are attaching.

Connect all elements in this manner on one side, then fix and cut your thread. Attach your thread to the bottom of one element on its other side, and connect all of them.

Congratulations! You have finished your own personalized 3D star.

Advanced version.

This is a pattern for a more complex 3D Star with non-repetitive ornament.

Drow your pattern over all star rays. Start beading as described above, just keep in mind that your first and last triangles will have same pattern in mirror image. Same applies to the 2nd and the 3rd triangles.

Bead each element according to your drowing, then connect them together same way as described in simple version in order according to your pattern.

You may or may not add Swarovski Xilion, Czech fire polished beads or other crystals — your choice.

Congratulations!
