Balochistan is the region which is popular for its extraordinary taste in food. And they also have a very distinctive way of cooking. The locals of this region are obsessed with meat. Almost all their dishes are made of beef lamb and goat meat.

The tourism in this region is highly motivated by either its landscapes or its food. Tourists after returning home from their trip to Balochistan find it hard to forget the relishing flavors. Not just of Balochistan in fact of almost every part of Pakistan.

Pakistani food has the most incredible mix of spices. It makes it stand out in all other cuisines around the world. The level of spice varies in every part of the country. Some people like food spicier and robust while others like to let every spice have a subtle but prominent role in making the flavor of the food. Balochistan however, is a combination of both types.

The food of Balochistan was undiscovered for many ages even by the people of its own country. But as words went out they brought tourism back with it. And the Baloch hospitality with a rich and mouth-watering feast became popular around Pakistan and beyond. Now it’s so famous that even restaurants in other cities are serving those dishes.

Here are some must-try Balochi dishes that even justify flying over a few countries for it.

Khaddi Kabab

If you go to Balochistan and not try Khaddi Kabab, you have really wasted your trip. Because this is one dish that no one but the locals can cook perfectly.

It is a traditional Balochi dish which is one of the favorites of the locals. It is prepared by barbecuing a whole lamb stuffed with rice in an underground space. Not everyone can cook this dish in its true form because it has certain techniques involved in cooking. How to stuff the rice in the lamb, how to light the fire, how to cover it up, etc. Only an expert cook knows it right.

Kruthghwadhi

Kruthghwadhi is one of the Balochi famous snacks. It is the most popularly cooked in winters using Quroot. Quroot is a traditional ingredient of Balochistan having roots dating back in ancient days. It is dried curd and its preparation has remained almost unchanged since its invention. The curd is made from the milk of sheep or goat. Some people even eat Quroot raw.

Quroot is dropped in heated oil. This melts every ingredient in the Quroot and a greasy mixture is prepared. After this, you can start adding all the other ingredients too. Then let it cook on low heat. And then voila! Ready for you to eat.

Kaak

This is the most unique roti that you will ever come across. It’s cooked by wrapping the dough of wheat over a rock. Kaak is relatively harder than usual rotis but the locals love eating it with the Balochi delightful meaty dishes like Khaddi Kabab.

Sajji

This is one dish that you will even find this in other parts of the world too because it is It is also one of the most popular dishes of Balochistan that people know about and it’s loved all around the world. However, there will be a little variation to it everywhere you go. So in order to experience its original taste, you would have to go to Balochistan.

Sajji is also cooked with a whole lamb. The meat isn’t seasoned with a lot of spices, it’s most commonly only seasoned with salt and black pepper.
