Finding the right equipment can be a tricky business. Take a look at our website first to find out more about OGSO Skis and their special technologies.

Ski weight, width, length and camber is a very individual issue depending on the style, capabilities, age, height, weight, purpose and situation.

There are no rules nor limits.

Nevertheless, we advise following to choose the right skis

Take a heavier + longer ski if you don’t climb
Take a lighter + shorter ski if you climb
Take a longer + camber ski if you go fast
Take a shorter + rocker ski if you like to…

The Ogso Schwarztor — A Quiver of One — 135–104–120

Choosing one pair of skis to do it all in the backcountry is a big ask. There’s no shortage of good skis; it’s finding the one ski that blends playful powder skiing with confident control while keeping it light underfoot that’s the hard part. I typically spend my winter on skis ranging from 100mm to 124mm under foot and routinely pack two pair for a week-long hut trip so I can get the best of both worlds as conditions or destination demand. But I just spent a week touring on the Ogso Schwarztor, and it walks the do-it-all line like…

There’s a rising new ski brand making its way into North America, Ogso Skis. Based in Chamonix, France, Ogso offers a variety of skis ranging from modestly-waisted mountaineering boards to wider freeride designs. Ogso makes lightweight uphill-friendly models and heavier descent-oriented boards.

Ogos founder and ski mountaineer, Tom Seidensticker, describes Ogso skis this way, “The skis are balanced for weight, strength, shape and form … Light enough for climbing but not too light … and shaped to facilitate turns and use in all conditions … That’s the real story and idea of Ogso.”

Seidensticker, an experienced mountaineer with 8,000-meter peaks…

In the spring of 2018, almost every year, I followed the press releases of many brands in the outdoor and mountaineering sector and became aware of the French brand Ogso. What I discovered was a rather small but very fine assortment of different ski models, designed primarily for the “off-piste area”, that is for off-piste terrain. The idea of freeriding is maintained during the naming, so the ski models are named after famous ski slopes and gullies.

Ogso manufactures skis only since 2015 and is therefore still rather unknown in German-speaking countries. The skis are designed to work in any…

During the last winter season, I had the opportunity to test the Cosmique touring ski of Ogso in addition to the downhill and powder orientated Schwarztor. I was traveling in various snow situations and weather conditions and was able to get a good picture of him.

First off, the ski was thankfully provided by Ogso, but that does not affect my opinion.

I am very enthusiastic about Ogos Schwarztor, which I was already able to test ( here for the test ) and was very happy about the possibility to compare these skis. Thankfully Ogso provided the ski for me — but the review reflects my opinion and was not influenced by it.

The Diable and the Schwarztor have the same ski shape — in my case 186 cm length with 106 mm under the binding, a lot of “Early Taper” and Ogsos super rocker construction — but they are still different. …

Keine Zweifel “should I stay or should I go?”. “To go” vor den Osterferien bedeutet: einen Tag früher losziehen, bevor die Massen anrücken. Nur, wer ist so flexibel? Klar, die Jugend! Rasch die Mädels plus Freund verpflichtet, im Team also: Josefine, Carla, Patrick — er hält wacker die Splitboard-Fahne hoch — und Ronald. Wichtig für…
