Hope

What do i see? A faint shimmer
I heard my brother say a veiled glitter

Somewhere up in the sky
If only we were birds to fly

The hopes and dreams that we nurse
The future we anticipate to bring with it a better us

We dare to stare
Is that glimmer still there?

That glimmer that promises
The hope of a better life, land and seas

Mama while vigorously turning the fufu
Said "The beautiful future we look up to is you"

So I want to keep searching for that light that'll do me solid
Make my innocent dreams become in my moonlight stories "things that I did"

I'm searching for something simple, we don't want it to elope
The learned amongst us say it's "hope"

But still while we stare, our zeal rises and falls
In rhythm with our hearts, we stand in our mothers' stalls

Waiting for the glimmer or shimmer or glitter
To come stay, stay with us forever.
