A little work of art that serves as a pet ID tag; it’s about the size of an index card. These badges make up the bulk of furry commissions; in fact, a typical furry con feels like a badge-making factory because they are so profitable for beginning artists. It is also known as a Conbadge. You may get them at conventions and on the internet!

My darling

Somebody who enjoys watching the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic animation. Fans of both sexes use the word “brony,” however it is most often used to describe the show’s tangential audience of guys aged 18–34 who appreciate quality animation. Although many still do, not all bronies identify as furries.

Soft and cuddly

An too multi-meaning term (and that doesn’t even include the ones that irritate certain people). Either you’re referring to people who like anthropomorphic creatures, the creatures themselves, or artwork that features them. Every other point is a matter of minor detail.

All Things Furry Fan Convention

A convention where furries may display, create, and sell furry artwork; often held at a hotel. While there are more than 4,000 attendees at Anthrocon (Pittsburg, PA), the average anime convention attracts much larger crowds.

Fursona has

An informal term for “Furry Persona,” “Furry Personality,” “Original Character,” and similar concepts. For the most part, individuals stick to owning a single Fursona.

Fursuit

Cosplay involving furry characters, usually a person’s fursona, and a full-body costume that includes a mask, tails, and paws. Suits of good quality might cost as much as a good computer. Finding a way to stay cool is paramount because it gets very warm in there under all that fur.

Animal lover

One who performs in public while clad in a fursuit. Often the default furry to the ignorant eye, even if fursuiters only make up around 10–20% of the furry fandom… that bothers turning up to conventions, anyhow click here.

The pursuit of fur

Cosplay incorporating furry characters, often performed while wearing a fursuit. Pantomime, over-the-top gestures, strutting, and huge embraces are commonplace. When furries see cameras, they can’t help but be silly when fursuiting.

Keeping things identical

A Japanese name for human characters with specific animal characteristics like ears and tails. Catgirls are a highly frequent form of kemonomimi. Unfortunately, most individuals who appreciate Kemonomimi are primarily anime lovers, and aren’t necessarily willing to be much more of a “furry” than that.

Additional relatives

A very tiny fraction of Furries who’ve forgotten they’re merely pretending to be their fursona, and start believing they somehow truly ARE their chosen animal. It becomes worse when people start asserting they’re from wholly imaginary species; the film Avatar created a whole spate of Na’vi-kin, somehow…

Scaly / Scalies

Lizard / Reptile-based furries. Typically get twisted out of shape at the idea that they are somehow also “Furry”, despite the fact that the name is a catch-all for anthropomorphic figures in general.

Yiff

Sexually Explicit Furry Artwork (Furry Porn), analogous to “Hentai” in Anime Circles, and a very minor subgroup of furry artwork in the community. Sadly, this is where far too many people — including some furries — learn about furry fandom.
