There are many acupoints on our heads. The acupoints here are some of the most common points which can be easily located. I have tried and tested these points with essential oils and it has been great. Especially the ones that relieve sinus congestion. I have used them on my kids, and myself and have taught a lot of people to use these points as well. I hope these tips will help you.

Using essential oils on acupressure points helps us reap the benefits of both worlds.

Here are some important points to take note of for Acupressure.

Do not apply pressure on injured skin. Injuries include rashes, cuts, bruises, and wounds.

Ensure your hands are clean and your fingernails are short.

The pressure you apply should be firm and moderate, but it should not cause pain. If the pressure causes pain, lighten the pressing.

Each pressure should last for about 30secs to a minute.

You do not have to cover all the points in one go. Focus on points you are comfortable with first.

Here are some important points to take note of for Essential Oil Safety.

1. DILUTE all oils with a carrier oil-follow the dilution guide

2. Start low and start slow, especially if you use them on children. Start with one drop and then increase the number of drops as you get more confident.

3. Never put essential oils in your eyes or ears

4. Citrus oils like Lemon, Tangerine, Orange, Bergamot, and Lime are photosensitive oils. Avoid direct sunlight on the applied area for 12 hours

5. Some oils are considered HOT oils, usually those from the herbal family. Thieves from your starter kit are deemed to be hot oil. Do not apply them directly to your skin.

6. If you accidentally get oils into your eyes & mouth, DO NOT USE water to rinse them off. Use edible vegetable oils or milk or butter to dilute the area.

7. If you experience redness on your skin after applying them, DO NOT USE water to wash it off. Use carrier oil on your skin.

Measuring acupoints from anatomical landmarks.

Cun

The unit we measure as an acupressure point is called “cun.”

1 cun = the width of a thumb joint.

1.5 cun= the width of the index and middle finger put together.

3 cun= the width of 4 fingers put together.

Focus Acupoints

Have any of you been knocked hard on the crown of your head by your parents when you are not focusing?

Guess what, that was tough love.

Apart from diffusing essential oils during homework time, you can also apply essential oils on the points above and apply a little pressure to get the Qi moving.

These points are not just for kids but also for adults. If you are having trouble with focus, memory, and clarity, these points are for you.

My recommendation for essential oils to use on these points are,

1. Brain Power

2. Geneyus

3. Focus Blend (Rosemary, Lavender, Cedarwood, and Vetiver)

4. Clarity

5. Vetiver

6. Rosemary

7. Grounding

Remember to dilute with a carrier oil before any topical application.
