According to the university announcement, Candia-Bailey worked in a variety of leadership roles within higher education for nearly two decades at a number of universities, including as vice president of student affairs; chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator; associate dean of students and senior project coordinator; assistant vice president of student affairs — housing and residence; director of academic excellence; and assistant director of university housing.

She began her newest role at Lincoln University in May 2023.

Nearly eight months into her role, and after attempts to inform university administration of alleged bullying and harassment at the hands of the university president went ignored and dismissed, Candia-Bailey would die by suicide.

She was 49.
