The president of BATCH, a motion graphics community required a motion design of the community logo. BATCH provides a safe haven for motion designers to share thoughts, and ideas, ask questions and be educated and enlightened in areas of motion design they are interested in.
The problem was brainstorming and converting the plain logo into a logo reveal. As a motion design community, it would be inappropriate not to have a clear representation of the features of the community, hence the motion challenge.
As the Motion Designer/ Storyboarding Artist, I was required to design a storyboard, add motion to the logo and also add a suitable and simple reveal. With a Timeframe of one month, and limited availability of a working system I gathered the resources for this project.
SOFTWARES USED : Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Media Encoder, Handbrake & Chrome 😎.
My process Involved;
- Searching For Motion Inspiration
- Designing Storyboard
- Gathering Resources For Style Frame
- Compositing The Style frame
- Exporting Each Style frame Scene
- Creating An Animatic / Boardomatic For The Animation After Effects
- Exporting Design Assets [Shapes, Text, Logo]
- Designing Scenes Of The Animation In After Effects
- Animating Assets
- Exporting The Animation
In the final iteration of the project, not all the style frames were adapted into the finished animation, extra resources were also added during the course of the iterative design process.
The Client (The president of the community as an experienced Motion Designer) was also satisfied with the results of the project. And the project also got some nice engagements on the platform which it was placed.
