Positive negative visualization
Jonas Ellison

Buddhism promotes “lo-jong” or “mind training” through a series of 59 slogans, of which #27 states “Start with the greatest defilement first”. Somewhere between “eat a frog” theory and Jonas’ point, the slogan encourages a practitioner to look right at whatever negative confronts the practice (doubt, boredom, ignorance, ego battles, that itch in a place you can’t scratch when in front of the lama, etc.) and simply to observe it dissipate as mindful awareness is applied. For quantum theorists, you recognize that a thing changes when observed, so whether your tradition / implementation / experiment is scientific, spiritual or an amalgam of bits, Jonas’ point rolls in grand company with Einstein and the Dalai Lama.
