Jakarta: This Is It!
Finally. This is it. After exhausting and disheartening months of election campaign, now it our time to finally cast our vote. I’m quite sure we all feel that the political climate, both regional and national, is a bit toxic and pestilent. It has become so overwhelming, even I can’t write my piece of #JakartaThisWeek in the past couple of weeks. (Okay, this is just a justification. LOL)
Today, 15th of February, just a day after Valentine, we can finally end this. Just go to the election booth, cast your vote for your future governoor, and done with it. Whatever the results are, I hope we all can accept it and move on to the next phase of our life.
Two weeks ago we’ve watched the second debate among governor candidates during Chinese New Year Eve. A week ago we’ve watched the final debate already. And last night we watched a-not-so-quiet act on a quiet period of this campaign. Enough is enough. We don’t need to give the political elites more attention than they deserve. They’ve asked too much attention already, and we’ve given them even more, and now it’s time for us to ask them to do what they’re suppose to do: work their asses off and guide this nation to a better place.
Please remember that Indonesia is the ship we’re all in. If this ship’s sinking, we’re all gonna get wet. Jakarta, as a capital and miniature of Indonesia, deserve our unity and harmony. Let’s work together. Strengthening each other. After all, we are all the colors needed to make this country as beautiful as Da Vinci’s painting.
