Yes, I was raised with the stereotype of that imperialism in the United States. I wrote an article called ‘I am not Russian!” here about it. And then witnessed the legacy living in Ukraine in the mid-nineties. Russian Imperialism was the heaviest on Ukraine because of its defiance and its legacy of Kyiv Rus history Russia needed to steal for itself to feel worthy on the world stage.
