Why do we find the lives of celebrities and superstars fascinating, but find the lives of normal, everyday people boring ? 🤔

The clue is in the word ‘normal’ itself.

By definition, if something is normal, it is usual, expected, average— it is like everything else.

The people we are fascinated with are simply those who step outside the lines and do things differently — that’s what makes them interesting.

The easiest (and only true) way you can be different is by being yourself. No one else has your experience, interests, biological and mental make-up — those are your super powers that make you different by default.

Besides being more interesting to others, these are the other benefits to embracing the super power of being yourself:

You grow faster 🚀

“You can’t heal what you never reveal”

Revealing the not so pleasant aspects of yourself gives you the opportunity to embrace and improve on them quicker than you would if you were hiding. The moment you stop trying to fit in or become like everyone else, you start appreciating the things that make you unique. This leads to the extreme focus to start working on those things and making them even better, which then makes them even more special.

Embrace your vulnerability and become the person you are here to be.

You make stronger connections 🤝

Normal caters to the lowest common denominator and that’s not always a great thing. By being yourself, you build stronger connections.

Although stepping out of the norm may push some people away from you, it also brings you closer to the tribe you truly belong to.

Example: Nike’s Stocks went up after they publicly showed support for Colin Kaepernick

You learn to express and get the benefits of gratitude 🙏

Learning to accept who you are leads you appreciating yourself and what you have more. Instead of complaining or comparing yourself to others, you learn to appreciate the things you have, which attracts more of those things.

There are so many more benefits to this mindset that I wrote about here.

You become more confident 😎

The most successful people in any aspect of life are those who are confident in their abilities to do those things. Having confidence allows you to take more chances and aim higher. When you are completely yourself, you constantly exercise your confidence.

People will respect you more 🙌

The reality is that no one has all the answers to how life works. But people generally follow and respect those who know where they are going and what they are doing. If you are comfortable being yourself, people will start respecting you and looking up to you as a subject matter expert in whatever you are doing.

Your value is in your difference 💎

We all have our purpose in life . There are certain things you can do based on everything that led to who you are today, that nobody in the world can possibly replicate.

By being yourself, you share this value with the rest of us.

You accomplish your goals faster! 🏃💨

The easiest way to slow yourself down from achieving your goals is to focus on other people and what they think about you or what you are doing.

The moment you stop thinking of others, you learn to make decisions faster and do what’s best for you.

The irony is that people rarely think about you anyways. Everyone else is too occupied with what everyone else is thinking about them too!

Other people become comfortable around you 🤪

People like being around those who make them feel good about themselves.

If you are yourself, others will also feel comfortable around you.

The more you open up to others, the more they want to open up to you too. This is how true connections are made.

You give others the permission to be themselves too 👯

When we see someone stepping out of the box, it opens our minds up to what is possible for us too.
Being yourself gives everyone else who are like you the permission (they don’t need) to be themselves.

You experience true happiness 😁

Even if you have all the friends you want or you are successful at what ever you are doing, if you got those results by faking a live that isn’t yours, you won’t truly be happy.

A successful person is a person that achieves their desired aims or attains prosperity.

Since everyone’s true desire is to be themselves and be accepted for it, you won’t achieve your true desires or be happy until you start putting yourself in a position to succeed while also being yourself.

You experience true freedom 🧘🏾‍

Being open and vulnerable is super scary, but the more you do it, the more you will feel and appreciate the sense of freedom that comes with it.

It’s easier to say NO ✋
Being yourself at all times makes it easier to avoid people-pleasing. You get the confidence to say no to things that don’t align with your goals. Learning to say no could mean the difference between being average and being the greatest version of yourself. Here’s why.

You were planted on earth to be normal. Don’t be afraid to come out and play. Be vulnerable. Open up to who you truly are and watch magic happen as you let the world see through your soul 😉

❗️Remember, who you are today doesn’t have to be the same as yesterday

You are constantly evolving based on your lessons, experiences and needs. The things you are interested in will change as well.

You are different from who you were yesterday, so don’t be a slave to your past identity.
