The Entrepreneur-in-Training.
“I hereby name you, an Entrepreneur-in-training”
It may sound weird, a bit funny actually, but I was recently named an “Entrepreneur-in-training”, upon being admitted into MEST(the Melwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology)Training School in Ghana. It’s been interesting, amazing, stressful (I really haven’t gotten much sleep), but it’s all been worth it.

Back to why I’m writing this. I would like to give a sneak peak as to how our, more specifically, my, first few weeks at MEST and in Ghana, has been.

We arrived on the 10th of August, settled in and waited for the others from the cohort to arive, I met new faces, mixed with cultures that I am very unfamiliar with, and even made friends.
Which brings us to the 14th, the day we were taken to the Legon Botanical Gardens and did several team building exercises and activities. I did a lot of climbing (so much climbing), got to know my new colleagues better and had the opportunity to mix with them in a less formal environment.
There was also a visit to Impact hub Accra (the only place I got to take a picture)

“And then there was BBB”
BBB, also known as “Bet, Buy, Barter”, was the next thing on the calendar. It’s a group project where you are given 20 cedis as capital, approximately 1500 naira (about 5 dollars) and are expected to make a profit from a venture you start with that capital. Coincidentally, the Chale Wote Festival ,one of Ghana’s biggest art festivals, happened to be taking place at the same time. It was a very fun weekend. Draining, but worth it. My team was able to generate a little over 1,000 cedis in profit, about 75,000 naira in profit (250 dollars),

“that’s not my team at the top photo by the way (we’re all really camera shy), but that’s how I felt when we were able to make that amount.”
To end my ramblings, I want to round up by saying - Ghana has been interesting. Being at MEST has been even more interesting. I’m excited and curious to see what else they have in stock for us. I’ll keep you looped in as it things happen.
See you in my next article. :D
Ola.
