So guys, join us on a trip down the memory lane as we explore the different iconic snacks that brought joy to many child faces. Get ready to relive the stress and feel the sugar rush again.

Baba Dudu

Baba dudu Candy

Baba Dudu is a very hard candy that was made by boiling coconut milk till it darkens and then it is shaped into a round and oval balls and tied into nylons to form a neckpiece. This particular candy was available at every small store in the neighourhood. Back then, this candy is called “Amu doyo” meaning you will lick it till you reach Oyo state because it last longer.

Yale biscuits

Yale Biscuits

The company Yale was a rockstar back the days. Yale at that time produce only our favourite biscuits. Some of their products are Speedy, Fishly, Coconut, Robo, Pepper Snack, shapes (from the name has different shapes and alphabets), Milk Maid etc. These biscuits is what we use to make cake biscuits then especially the Speedy and coconut. FUN FACT: The company Yale is still much in existence and is actively operating in Ibadan among several Cities where it is located.

Ekana asa

Ekana asa also known as Ekana Gowon is a popular candy back in the days. It is made from sugar, shaped into cones and ramp with paper. The candy is pretty cheap and also our go to option when returning from school.

Pako Biscuits

Pako Biscuits

If your teeth is not strong enough don’t near this biscuit but if you are looking for something that will fill your stomach throughout the day and also help save your money (because this biscuit is cheap then) this particular biscuit is your sure bet. Eat this biscuit with water or Eve then you are good too go.

Sibije

This particular snacks then was a banger then. It a small pack that contain chocolate and vanilla mix with three biscuits on top. I’m sure everyone did this that after eating sibije you put your food into the pack to eat from it. If you didn’t do this then you didn’t fully utilize the pack well.

Lolly/Telephone Juice

For those of us that did not have money to buy fan yogo, lolly or telephone juice is our go to option then. Unlike lolly, the telephone juice serve two major purposes the first is as refreshment to water down our food and the other function is that it serve as toy that we can play with then.

Milk Sweet Candy

This candy is in from of a tablet. It very milky and sweet and pretty cheap then.

Goody goody

Who else remember this yummy and soft chocolate with the jingle “Goody goody so goody goody, so chewy chewy”. This chocolate was bae then wonder why they stop producing it.

Okin and Coaster biscuits

Okin Biscuits

You will agree with me that Okin and Coaster biscuits (when coaster biscuits was still coaster biscuits) brought back the memory of our grandmothers and mum. This particular biscuits is what they bought for us especially when our grandmum come visiting.

Banana bubble gums

Gone are those days when people can eat chewing gum and still have sense. This particular chewing gum is one of the best chewing gum then. The wrapper of the chewing gum contain riddles and current affair that people can read and learn from.

As we come to the end of our 90s snacks journey, one that thing is crystal clear is that these snacks hold a strong and special place in our hearts and memories. Whether you are a fan of the Yale bisuits or Baba Dudu, there was something for everyone in the world of 90s snacks to munch on. We hope this trip down memory lane has brought back dear memories and reminded you of times when things where easier and fun. One thing that is sure is that you can never go wrong with any of this snacks. So, grab a snack (maybe Sibije or the Yale biscuits) and keep the 90s spirit alive and bubbling.

Which of the above snacks is your favourite, we will like to know in the comment section.
