Interesting discussion going on. Inspired me to finally start using medium more actively (not just listen).
I’ve been using Snapchat for about a week now. Tried posting some pics and vid to my story. Snaped directly with other users. But for the most part I am observing and learning the platform. Here’s what I see so far:
- It lacks some of the features we are all used to (search, tags, shareability) within the platform itself (you can have all of those and plenty more outside obviously). BUT already within this week they’ve added Vanity URLs. And I am sure they will go on to add other things of that nature. Twitter started of with 140 characters and no pictures. And look at it now.
- B2B campaigns may be still not natural in Snapchat environment (for all the reasons mentioned in the discussion) BUT what makes an interesting argument that might turn them to Snapchat is authenticity. It is much harder to fake something here than on the other platforms - or at least seems to be after watching it for a week :)
- Attention is definitely leaning towards Snapchat right now. Over the course this week I’ve already seen for example BBC and AFP joining to report on US elections. BUT… actually no but here. Attention is there period. I would even say that US elections could really depend on Snapchat. Remember how Obama won thanks to Twitter.
