Uninstalling SQL Server is a Pain

How can a single software consume a whole 58.2GB of space from a 256GB SSD? That is SQL Server for you!

I never knew the beast was amassing a wealth of my scarce real estate to itself. I just noticed my hard drive icon on my Windows machine turned red. I only use it for development and only coding-related software are on it. So I was curious to know what program or folder/file could be responsible.

It turned out to be SQL Server 2016. I uninstalled it but the free space on my SSD hardly moved a bit. Needless to say, the process of completely regaining the space hijacked by SQL Server isn’t as easy as uninstalling most other software.

This is the pain for .NET programmers and Microsoft should do something about it.
