I would add “Take the long view of issues into account”.
What is exceptional about the moment that warrants media attention or reaction from authority? If the answer is nothing, or very little, you might consider that you are being mentally prepped for programming. ie: What about Charlottesville drew massive media presence in “preparation” for violence when similar events went ignored? The protectors at Standing Rock would have loved to have seen some media attention and their situation “played out” for months without it. Also, make notes about contrasts in “official” reactions. The boys in blue usually club the messengers the establishment doesn’t want to be heard. People tend to trust authority figures to be neutral in political issues so the snapshot view would suggest that they “react” to violence with violence when they are often the only ones perpetrating violence.
