My #1 Motivational Trick

Have you ever said “I’m going to do THIS!”. Base jump butt naked, water ski barefoot, pounce on a wild Bengal Tiger. We have all had these thoughts yes?
Lately I had a less exotic but equally challenging task. Cleaning the garage. I’ve been saying I’m going to do it, but it’s so easy to put off, so why even do it?
I use a tiny Jedi mind trick for myself in order to get going. Pick the smallest possible task and just do it. In this case I looked around and found some shoes out of place and put them away. Whoooh! That was mentally draining even to just think about, but I did it!
So if you find yourself putting things off, try the trick. Just do the smallest task you can possibly do. One jumping jack, one 5 second plank, one dessert bite less, read one paragraph, think 1 intelligent thought, etc.
It’s catchy. Try it you’ll like it!
P.S
It also works great for structuring tasks. Break them down into the smallest possible concepts / simplest possible examples you can think of and build from there.
