This Magic World of Art

Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artworks, expressing the author’s imaginative idea. Art can be subdivided into several groups :

· Visual art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography)

· Applied Art (architecture, fashion design, wood Crafts, interior design)

· Performing Art (dance, music, opera, films, theater, drama, magic shows and stand up comedies).

As for me, my favorite art forms are films and music because this is how I spend my free time: watching TV-series or listening to music. Theater takes the second place, and in third position I have stand up comedies.

Since we are going to discuss the topic “Theater” at least over the next month, today I would like to write about this art form, just tell about my attitude to it, how often I go to the theater and so on.

So, my journey into the world of theater began in my childhood, when my classmates and I came here in Nizhny Novgorod to watch children’s performances in the Theater of the Young Spectator. We watched such plays as “The Little Mermaid”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, etc., and it was fascinating.

The first time when I deliberately plunged into the world of theater performances was in the first year of university, when firstly, my roommates and I went to the Drama Theater to watch the play «The Cherry Orchard» and then we bought season tickets for the theater. It was unforgettable. We were able to get on three completely different performances: ballet, musical and opera. Those four performances became my first and last “trips” to the theater.

Even though it was two years ago, I still can remember my impressions. The musical ,which by the way was called “My Fair Lady”, made the strongest impression on me, then it was ballet and then opera. Honestly, I am not a fan of opera, as it is quite hard for me to listen to opera singing. Perhaps this is because I’m not a professional but an amateur and I just can’t appreciate all the amenity of this art form. Maybe one day I’ll give it one more try.

To sum up, I think you have already understood that I very rarely go to the theater, and that my favorite genre is musical, which ideally includes both singing and dancing. Actually, I wish I went to the theater more often for self-development and trying new genres.
