Introduction

QuillBot is a content editing tool founded in 2017. QuillBot helps you write better, faster, and smarter in both the free and premium packages. The QuillBot premium package has features like a plagiarism checker, better writing flexibility, and activation of writing modes.

The free package, on the other hand, has a good number of features, and with a single click of the button, you can access the summarizer tab, grammar checker, word paraphrasing, citation generator, and co-writer tool, which provides users with templates to write blog posts, essays, or articles in their desired format, with many options to customize and perfect your document.

What is QuillBot?

QuillBot is a budget-friendly editing assistant, a good choice for academia and technical writers. QuillBot is also good if you want to paraphrase longer texts or break text into sentences.

QuillBot Menus

QuillBot is made up of six menu options and I will explain how these menus work and how you can navigate the platform easily.

1. Paraphraser

The paraphraser menu rewrite articles to your desired format. The paraphraser menu is explained with the diagram below.

  1. Text Area: This is the area in the paraphraser where you write text and edit them.

2. Upload Doc: If you have a saved document in your system that you want to edit, you can click on the “upload doc” button to upload it to the text area.

3. Modes: The modes give your text unique formats. The paraphraser menu has seven written modes, namely: standard, fluency, formal, simple, creative, expand, and shorten. The modes of standard and fluency are available for the free package, while the other modes are made available for premium users.

4. Synonyms: The synonyms button gives word suggestions closest in meaning to what you typed in the text area.

5. Output: The output area displays the result of changes made in the text area.

6. Paraphraser: Once you click on the paraphrase button, it will paraphrase the text in the text area and display the result in the output area.

2. Grammar Checker

The grammar checker helps identify words that are not correctly written and will give you suggestions to fix the error. Words with wrong grammar are spotted with a red line for easy identification.

  1. Fix Errors: A click on the Fix All Errors button will automatically correct all the spotted errors in a text.

2. Paraphrase Text: A click on the button will paraphrase text to your preferred tone.

3. Download: The download button will generate a new word document of the article. You can download the article once you are done with the grammar checker of the text.

4. Copy: This allows you to copy a text and paste in another working area.

5. Delete: The delete button allows you to delete an text by clicking on the delete button.

3. plagiarism-Checker

This option is available for premium users only. If activated, you can copy and paste your article to the checker area to scan for plagiarism.

4. Co-Writer Menu

The Co-writer menu gives you templates to write blog posts, essays, research papers, or articles to your desired format with different options available to customize and perfect your document. You can also start a blank project on the Co-Writer menu.

5. Summarizer Menu

The summarizer menu summarizes text in paragraphs and key sentences. The summarizer diagram shows how to work with the menu.

  1. Upload Doc Icon: You can upload a saved document you want to summarize from your system to QuillBot by clicking on the upload doc button.

2. Text Area 2: This is the area in QuillBot where you write or upload the text you want to summarize.

3. Summarize: Once you click on the summarize button, it will summarize the text in the text area and display the result in the output area.

4. Key Sentences: This button will summarize text in controlled sentences of a certain length.

5. Paragraph: This button will summarize text into paragraphs.

6. Summary Length: This either lengthens or shortens key sentences.

7. Output: The output area displays the result of changes made in the text area.

6. Citation-Generator

This citation generator generates proper citations for your article. With this menu, you can choose citation style as shown in the diagram.

  1. Composer: Once you click on the compose button, it will open a page for you to input citation details. After inputting the details, click on save citation and the citation will be generated in the MLA format.

2. Citation source: This has a drop-down menu with three options: website, book, and journal article for you to select citation source. If your source is from a website, you paste the URL of the website in the enter URL box and click on “cite and save citation.” If your citation is from a book or journal article, you type the book or journal title and click on “search and save citation.

3. Cite: Once you click on Cite, it will open the generated citation page. You can edit it or you can click on save citation and the citation will be generated in the MLA format.

4. Citation Style: This will give you the different versions of the MLA citation style for you to choose from once you click on the drop down.

5. Download All: You can download your citation in different formats like MS Word, BibTeX, and CSL-Json.

Conclusion

QuillBot is an easy-to-use content editor for text summarizing, grammar checking, article paraphrasing, text synonyms, dictionary citation generator, and plagiarism checker. QuillBot’s artificial intelligence features are the best writing assistants for both free and premium users.
