Smartphones have revolutionized the whole idea of transactions. You can save your payment details on your smartphone inside a trustworthy payment app like Apple pay or Android pay. You may use your phone to make payments where ever the merchants like merchant processing have the capability to do so. In some stores, you need to simply hold your smartphone near the sale point terminal to make the payment as the terminal reads the encrypted information on your phone and complete the transaction.

Mobile payments are safer than other modes of payment as the payment information on your phone is not disclosed to the payment terminals. The transactions are completed in an encrypted form. Though mobile phone payments are safe, we still need to take measures to safeguard your payment information.

Use trusted & safe payment platforms

Ensure to use payment platforms that come along with your phones like Apple Pay or Android Pay or a trustworthy payment provider like Chase pay or Google Wallet. Trustworthy mobile payment platforms don’t store your real credit card details. Some payment apps are fraudulently created for gathering credit card details and expose your payment information. Be careful while you download apps from the app store or the internet.

Download Only Trustworthy Apps

Always ensure you only download trustworthy apps from the app store because some fraudulent apps come from spyware or malware. This spyware is created to capture your payment information and send them to hackers.

Lock Your Phone Remotely If It’s Lost or Stolen

For example, use Android Device Manager to locate or lock your smartphone. This is to ensure that your phone is remotely locked if lost.

Use Strong Password Protection

Always try to carry a phone with a strong security lock. Make your password strong and difficult for others to predict. Try to lock your phone with latest security features like iris recognition, fingerprint, face recognition etc which are more secure than pin or password. By having a strong password, you can ensure that your confidential payment information does not fall into wrong hands.

Don’t Send Sensitive Information Through Public Wi-Fi

Always remember that any information passed through public wifi is accessible for hackers. So your payment information can easily fall into the people who know how to get them. Always use your cellular data or password protected wifi.

Use a Credit Card

Use credit cards instead of debit cards. The credit card companies offer you better fraudulent credit card processing protection than debit card companies. The zero fraud liability policies ensure that you are not liable to make payment for unauthorized transactions.

Monitor Your Credit Card Account

Do regular reviews of your credit card bills for unauthorized payments which you can immediately notify the company to take necessary action.
