Month One…Building Routines
It’s been just over two years since I left the UK to have begin my first adventure backpacking in Australia. Following this included month long trips to Bali, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
It’s safe to say, I had an incredible time!
Sadly I’m now back home in the UK for an extended period (I racked up a decent bill on my travels!) and must learn once again how to be a proper functioning adult. The bubble I was in has definitely burst and I’ve come crashing back down to reality!
Having been pretty depressed since my return home and even more so once starting full time office work, I needed something else to focus on. Almost every day when backpacking I was seeing, learning or doing something new.
I’ve decided that in order to keep my mind occupied and develop myself, each month I will be trying something new, whether it be something to improve me mentally, some kind of skill, a sport etc. I need the thrill of trying something new to help get me up in the morning. Which leads me on to what I’m doing this first month…
Morning and Evening Routines
This is something I’ve never really mastered, particularly when I was away backpacking. With the UK rapidly making its way into Autumn/Winter, the temperature is dropping and waking up in the morning (for me and I imagine many others) is a huge battle. Snoozing is just too easy when the other option is to leave the warmth of your bed and brave the cold!
All over the internet successful people claim having a set morning and evening routine is really important for a number of reasons. Over the course of this month I will be looking at the different approaches recommended across the web and looking to successfully build a solid morning and nightly routine.
Let the journey begin!
