Places not to miss when visiting The Hague
Most people visit Amsterdam, the Keukenhof or Rotterdam when coming to the Netherlands. Although just a short 30min drive from Schiphol and direct connection by train they miss a wonderful part of the Netherlands. City of peace and justice and the place where the sea meets the land are the main slogans of this city. So dont miss this place on your next visit to the Netherlands and enjoy one or more of these wonderful places, here my absolute favorites:
City Center: The Denneweg and also Nordeinde are full of wonderful boutiques, cafés and galleries. All the monuments can be visited within walking distance and you should certainly also have a look at the Escher Museum.
Statenkwartier: Thats where you find the famous Gemeentemuseum but also lots of shops and cafés in an international atmosphere as this is the place where the thousands of Expats live.
Scheveningen: An amazing beach with lots of animation in the Summer and the perfect place to relax in Winter. Walk towards Zwarte Pad (noth part of the beach) and you will discover some amazing bars and restaurant, almost tourist free. At the last bar you can then go up the stairs and go into the dunes, have a wonderful walk and enjoy the 360 degree view over city and beach
Food: Although this is Holland (no I am not Dutch), there are amazing places in this city:
- Afternoon tea but also breakfast at Hotel des Indes
- Milu for tapas, you will love it
- Indigo for burgers at the beach
- Callas for fine food (1 star restaurant)
- The Penthouse at Den Haag Holland Spoor in the tower with a breathtaking view
- HanTing, chinese 1* restaurant in the city at very reasonable prices
Don’t miss this city and combine shopping with beach and sightseeing with nature. You will love it!
