The Worldly Philosophers by Robert Heilbroner and Micromotives and Macrobehavior by Thomas Schelling. A lot of Schelling’s ideas also reappear in Thinking Strategically by Dixt & Nalebuff.
The Winner-Takes-All Society by Frank and Cook is especially relevant now, 20+ years after publication. Kindleberger on Manias, Panics and Crashes is a classic. Bob Shiller’s work is a bit more technical but current and mostly readable.
