Part One.
Just a small one from me this morning that I’ve put together rapidly because I promised it a few days back, sorry been ultra busy!
Basic Attention Token (BAT)
Coinbase have an existing partnership with BAT for the wallet within their browser
Well they did up until recently, it seems the payment side is currently handled by another company now. But this confirms they have had existing talks and partnerships before, which isn’t surprising considering their offices are what, 15 mins away from each other in San Fran as you will see below

As I said above, BAT HQ and Coinbase HQ are not far from each other at all, of course they have crossed paths, had many meet ups & discussions.

Coinbase CEO’s Tweets
Brian Amstrong is the founder/CEO of Coinbase, he has tweeted about BAT many times and seems to have a good relationship with Brendan Eich, BAT Founder & creator of Javacript. He even tweeted BAT was the type of token he wants to support on Coinbase… Like come on, how much more of a hint do you need here?
Mainstream Adoption
Of course everyone wants mainstream adoption right now for Cryptocurrencies and thats where the market is struggling. Coinbase recently acquired earn.com where users can complete certain tasks to earn Cryptocurrency. Armstrong tweeted his beiliefs regarding users earning their first Cryptocurrency instead of buying it. This is EXACTLY what BAT allows. With BAT you earn rewards for watching adverts and completing tasks. Something like BAT going mainstream I can see happening, their browser is cool too, check it out. (Brave Browser)

Ethereum infrastructure
Because BAT is an ERC20 token and Coinbase already have the Ethereum setup, I imagine adding ERC20 is pretty straight forward development wise compared to implementing a new blockchain like Cardano for example, so I expect to see ERC20 before any other blockchains are listed on Coinbase.
BAT is on Coinbases wallet site
BAT is featured on Coinbases marketing materials on their wallet site. Does this mean anything, who knows?

Apple approved cryptocurrenies?
According to this below article, Apple have a list of approved Cryptocurrenies, interesting right?
Of course this list is subject to change, but read the info below from when someone tried to create an App for buying IOTA.

So NO BAT, NO ER20, right? Well..
Recently Brendan Eich (CEO of BAT/Brave) gave a talk in London and announced that Basic Attention Token (BAT) is the first, and currently the only, ERC20 token to be accepted on the app store.
This means, unless any other ERC-20 tokens get verified, that BAT is currently the only viable option for Coinbase.

BAT isn’t a Security, its a utility token.
Despite news, Coinbase still doesn’t have approval to list Securities.
Coinbase wants to stay fully compliant with the SEC, they can currently only list currencies or tokens that without any doubt aren’t securities.. and BAT is confirmed to NOT be a security token, according to their FAQ at least.
According to the BAT FAQ, (Above screenshot) the team and their counsel at Perkins-Coie are confident that the Basic Attention Token is properly classified as property with utility on the platform they are building, and not a security. So BAT seems to have a legal team dedicated to keeping them complaint.
Conclusion.
To conclude based on the above factors and the fact that the two CEO’s tend to tweet each other a lot/have a good relationship I believe BAT will be the first ERC20 token on Coinbase, and has the highest chance of listing first. BAT just seems the perfect fit for Coinbase right now and cryptocurrency as a whole. Real world utility for the average person…. A perfect step in mainstream adoption which is the goal.
