It is a well-known fact that physical factors strongly influence the psychological state of a person. A simple example: in a depressed mood, the first thing to do is to straighten your back, raise your head, ventilate the room, breathe deeply… Your psychological state can and should be managed.

Another way to cheer up is through sound. A certain sequence of sounds can cheer you up (all young children who play with words and syllables are well aware of this). Some songs are so funny that they cheer you up while you’re listening to them. For example, you can try songs from the good old game “The Neverhood”.

And there are songs, that raise your mood with their very melody when you sing them. For example, there’s a Cuban song performed by the musician Compay Segundo “Guantanamera (Guajira guantanamera)”. The chorus melody, descending to the bottom notes, works flawlessly: you sing it and you smile. And you just can’t do anything about it!

Professional singers may not feel anything out of the ordinary about it, but I’m not one of them. Just sing this melody! All my friends who sang the chorus of this song started smiling when they reached the bottom notes. Maybe that’s because I sang along and smiled contagiously? One way or another, everyone’s spirits have risen. Sing it! :)
