I remember.

It makes sense.

My peers should be able to do what you’re saying. We’re a generation that doesn’t need to remember anything, so we ought to be more skilled at doing everything else. Reasoning and imagining and logic, and the more humanistic skills of inuiting and instinct and empathy.

I sense that we’re shifting that way. It’s a slow, painful, counter-intuitive process so far. I think that it is happening.

We may not be able to remember as much raw data as our forebears, but to a certain degree we’re improving our abilities to remember specific data sets.

We’ll see where it goes.

In spite of many, many arguments to the contrary, I have faith in the future.
