The common denominator to success or failure

I’m a strong believer in the human race. As humans, we have the tendency to develop patterns. And the longer we pursue those patterns, the more engrained they become to our daily lives.

Whatever you are doing right now, be it good or bad, supportive or not towards your goals, is a repetition of a previously established pattern of actions.

Take somebody who has tried numerous diets and training plans. Yet struggle to achieve and keep health and fitness success. This person therefore decides to abandon the quest to a better body and physical condition, and decides to live life in big portions.

Just like fitness, life has three main components that determine whether you will be successful in any endeavour or not.

1. Target

2. Resitance

3. Endurance

It is the goal of any human being to achieve their goals and targets. Yet more often than not, the way we deal with resistance and endure the process becomes the determining factor in our quest to success.

Building a life is similar to building a muscle. You will need to set a target and endure the resistance over a long period of time. And once the goal is achieved, repeat the process for other muscles — other areas of your life.

How do you set up goals that will ignite the fire within you and give you the strength to endure resistance over time? No matter what the goal is, you will face resistance. Whether it comes from yourself (self-doubt, questioning your abilities and motives), or from outside sources (friends, family, co-workers) who will try everything to drag you down and remind you to “live your life.”

I hear this from my clients all the time: “my partner keeps eating junk around the house, when I’m trying to keep my nutrition clean.”

One way to build resistance and endurance towards your goal is to objectively audit your circle, environment and abilities. If you have a history of “falling off the wagon”, what proves that you won’t this time? What has changed? You can’t just hope for things to get better.

KNOW YOUR OWN STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES and capitalise on your strengths.

Let say that Jen knows that she craves ice cream every time she gets upset. She end up consuming the whole pot in one seating which is never a good idea!

Jen needs to learn how to control her emotions to:

1- Avoid getting upset that much

2- Find a better coping mechanism (maybe writing or going for a walk)

And by the way, I guarantee you that this process will not be easy. That’s why so many people fail.

You will have to repeat it over and over and keep learning more about yourself to build resistance and endurance towards your goals.

Every day, I remind my RISE academy clients of their goals and targets to keep them on track. We have a program called the 77 Ways to stay motivated where I deliver positive motivational messages via text, video and audio DAILY to remind you of the battle ahead. You can check out this awesome program here and I guarantee you, your whole perspective will change in a matter of days.

77 ways to stay motivated program will ignite the fire within you

Be great.
